WesternSufism.info is a companion website to the book Western Sufism: From the Abbasids to the New Age by Mark Sedgwick.
Sufism has a long and rich history, mostly in the Middle East. It is also found in the West, however, and Western Sufism has its own history and characteristics, just as (say) Indonesian Sufism does. Western Sufism is the topic of this website and the book that it is a companion to. As well as providing some basic information about the book, the website hosts a blog dealing with all aspects of Western Sufism, a gallery of images, and some information about Mark Sedgwick. The website, like the book, is provided as a service to researchers engaged in the study of Western Sufism. All are welcome, but the general principles and standards applicable to academic research apply. |
